Location
Kontohori is a settlement neighboring Fira, the capital of the municipality of Thira, Santorini, built on the "eyebrow" of the caldera, starting at the end of the 18th century, when the inhabitants began to abandon the old capital, the castle of Skaros, which had damaged by earthquakes. Leaving Fira and heading towards Oia, we pass through Kontochori. The two villages (Kontochori and Fira) were slowly united in the last century, especially due to the reconstruction after the earthquake of 1956, so that today the boundaries are indiscernible and it is considered by many as the area of Fira.
